Ingredients

For the Basil Mayo

  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise can substitute with Greek yogurt for a lighter option.
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Basil Leaves consider using any soft herb like parsley or cilantro for a twist.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice may substitute with vinegar if unavailable.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Sea Salt regular salt works perfectly too.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pepper black or white pepper can be used.

For the Sandwich

  • 2 rolls Ciabatta Rolls could replace with whole grain or sourdough.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil any cooking oil would do.
  • 8 ounces Natural Turkey Sandwich Meat can substitute with chicken or ham for different flavors.
  • 4 slices Provolone Cheese cheddar or mozzarella are great alternatives.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, finely chopped fresh basil, lemon juice, sea salt, and pepper. Mix well and chill in the refrigerator for a few minutes to let the flavors meld.
  • Preheat the oven to broil. Brush the cut sides of the ciabatta rolls with olive oil and place them open-faced on a baking sheet. Broil until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes, keeping a close eye to prevent burning.
  • Spread the natural turkey sandwich meat evenly over the toasted ciabatta bottoms.
  • Layer on two slices of provolone cheese atop the turkey. Place the roll tops on them and return the sandwiches to the broiler until the cheese is melted and bubbly, roughly 2-3 minutes.
  • Once removed from the oven, take the tops off again and generously spread the chilled basil mayo over them.
  • Close the sandwiches and serve them hot. Enjoy with a side of chips or a refreshing salad for a complete meal.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding sliced jalapeños. Store leftovers tightly wrapped for up to 2 days or freeze unassembled sandwiches for up to 1 month.
