Baking Instructions
Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C) while preparing a muffin pan.
If desired, combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon for a crumbly topping and chill.
Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and optional cinnamon until well mixed.
Beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy, then add sour cream, eggs, and vanilla until just combined.
Gently combine dry and wet ingredients, then fold in milk and add-ins.
Spoon the batter into muffin cups, filling them to the brim. Sprinkle with coarse sugar or crumb topping if desired.
Bake at 425°F for 5 minutes, then lower the temperature to 350°F (177°C) and bake for 15–18 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let muffins cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Serve warm with butter or your favorite jam for a cozy breakfast treat.
