  • 1 cup Light or Dark Brown Sugar Can replace with granulated sugar for less flavor depth.
  • 0.5 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon Optional.
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted Butter (melted)
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour Requires correct measuring (spooned and leveled).
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted Butter (softened) Must be softened to room temperature.
  • 0.5 cup Sour Cream or Plain Yogurt Greek yogurt can be used.
  • 2 large Large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 0.5 cup Milk (at room temperature)
  • 1 cup Add-ins of choice Like chocolate chips or fruits.
  • 1 tablespoon Coarse Sugar Optional, for a crispy top layer.

Instructions

Baking Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C) while preparing a muffin pan.
  • If desired, combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon for a crumbly topping and chill.
  • Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and optional cinnamon until well mixed.
  • Beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy, then add sour cream, eggs, and vanilla until just combined.
  • Gently combine dry and wet ingredients, then fold in milk and add-ins.
  • Spoon the batter into muffin cups, filling them to the brim. Sprinkle with coarse sugar or crumb topping if desired.
  • Bake at 425°F for 5 minutes, then lower the temperature to 350°F (177°C) and bake for 15–18 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let muffins cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve warm with butter or your favorite jam for a cozy breakfast treat.
