Instructions
Making the Knots
In a stand mixer, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Then, add the warm water or milk, honey, and butter. Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes. Allow the dough to rise in a warm place for 30–60 minutes until doubled in size.
While the dough rises, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. This sweet mixture will add that amazing flavor to your knots.
Roll the risen dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Spread softened butter over the surface, then sprinkle generously with the cinnamon sugar. Fold the dough, cut into strips, twist, and tie into little knots; place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Melt remaining butter and mix with the remaining cinnamon and brown sugar. Spoon this mixture over each knot, making sure they are well coated.
Place the knots in the oven and bake for 16-20 minutes. Keep an eye on them; they should be golden brown and smell divine. Flip halfway through if you want to reapply the melted topping.
In a bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla, and a tablespoon of water until smooth and creamy. Adjust the consistency with extra water if needed.
Once the knots are out of the oven and slightly cooled, drizzle the creamy glaze over the top. Enjoy them warm for the best experience!
