How to Make Quick & Easy Creamy Butter Chicken

  • In a large skillet, warm 2 tablespoons of oil and 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Sauté the diced onion until lightly golden, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in 1 teaspoon of finely minced ginger and 2-3 cloves of minced garlic. Cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Toss in 1.5 pounds of chicken chunks, cooking for about 5 minutes until they turn white throughout.
  • Stir in 4 tablespoons of tomato paste, 1 tablespoon of garam masala, 1 teaspoon of chili powder (or paprika), 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1 teaspoon of salt, and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper.
  • Gradually pour in 1 cup of heavy cream, and stir to combine. Let it simmer for 8-10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Taste your creation! Adjust seasoning if needed.
  • Dish out the butter chicken over fluffy Basmati rice or alongside warm naan.
