Instructions
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C). Grease three 8-inch cake pans and line the bottoms with parchment paper to ensure easy removal after baking.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, sugar, brown sugar, and peanut butter until fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
Blend in the sour cream and vanilla extract. Then, add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition for a smooth batter.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually blend this dry mixture into your wet ingredients, adding the milk and water alternately until just combined.
Evenly distribute the batter into your prepared pans and bake for 21-23 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick; it should come out clean when the cakes are ready!
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to cooling racks. For the frosting, beat together the salted butter and peanut butter until creamy.
Gradually mix in powdered sugar and adjust with heavy whipping cream to achieve desired consistency. Frost between layers and on the outside of the cooled cake.
Add peanut butter chips and ganache for the perfect finishing touch!
Notes
Ensure all your ingredients are at room temperature for best results. Adjust frosting consistency as needed. Optional: Drizzle extra ganache over each slice for an indulgent finish.
