Cooking Instructions

  • Sauté the Apples: In a sauté pan, combine diced sweet apples, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of kosher salt. Cook over medium heat until the apples are tender, about 8-10 minutes.
  • Prepare Apple Milk Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together unsweetened non-dairy milk, maple syrup (or your preferred sweetener), optional vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  • Combine Oats and Spices: Add oats, chia seeds, and any optional spices into the milk mixture. Stir well to combine, then let sit for about 10 minutes.
  • Layer It Up: In individual jars or bowls, start layering the cooked apple mixture followed by the oatmeal mixture. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  • Chill and Serve: Allow to sit for at least 10 minutes, or refrigerate for up to 5 days. Top with nuts or maple syrup before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, soak the oats overnight. Stir in more non-dairy milk if the mixture thickens in the fridge.
