  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour measured accurately

Instructions

Making the Cookies

  • In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar. Beat until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Stir in egg yolk, salt, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Mix until well combined.
  • Gradually add all-purpose flour while mixing on low speed until the dough becomes a soft, slightly crumbly mass.
  • Gently fold in colorful nonpareils, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Divide the cookie dough into two logs, about 2 inches in diameter. Wrap in wax paper and chill in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice chilled logs into ¼-inch rounds and arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes.

Notes

Optional: Top with a sprinkle of sea salt before baking for a sweet-savory delight.
